Chromia and Bumblebee venture into Cybertron's gaseous Argon Sea in search of Windblade.
Synopsis
Chromia, Ratchet and Bumblebee stand before Windblade, preparing to upload what they have of her mind. Just as they finish, a shark-bot breaks into the sickbay and steals their friend. Taking a shuttle, they follow the thief to the Argon Sea, and dive under.
Meanwhile, Optimus assembles the current Autobot troopers in a strategy meeting. Just before he finishes, he freezes, and the Matrix of Leadership floats out of his chest.
In the Argon Sea, Bee and Chromia find a beautifully populated landscape under the surface, chasing the thief as soon as they find him. Unfortunately, he topples the metallic structures to throw them off, and upon escaping, dive deeper to find a giant transmission of Windblade's face screaming for help. It disappears, and they end up attacked by the local wildlife.
As Optimus manifests into the Matrix, he finds Maccadam has managed to join him.
The creatures manage to damage the shields on the shuttle, and once they leave, the shark-bot arrives and smashes the window, leaving Bumblebee to take matters into his own hands. While the scout manages to mount and incapacitate the shark-bot, he pays the price and ends up falling deeper into the ravine. Chromia follows him down, and the shark-bot awakens, grumpy with his position. An argument soon breaks out, and the shark-bot introduces himself as Hammerbyte, the Argon Sea's Guardian. He quickly explains about the Dweller, and they set off to rescue Bee and Windblade.
Finding Bumblebee, they follow him down a hatchway, though just before Hammerbyte enters, a tentacle appears and hits him with an orange gas, sending him in a trance. He quickly catches up to Chromia, who flees until she reaches Bumblebee... Also in a trance. Evading both of them, Chromia reaches a large room with Windblade floating up in the middle, in front of the Dweller. Quickly working out it is a Titan, Chromia strands defiant, leading to the Dweller siccing Bumblebee and Hammerbyte. Engaging her friends, Chromia quickly turns Bumblebee's stinger against them, breaking them out of their trances doing so.
Not willing to lose potential citizens, the Dweller releashes more hypnotic gasses, but the trio manage to grab Windblade and escape... though at the cost of their shuttle. Returning Windblade to her friends, Hammerbyte apologizes for his Dweller-induced actions and heads back into the Argon Sea.
Pondering how Maccadam is in the Matrix, Optimus's inquiry is answered: all along, he was one of the Thirteen: Alchemist Prime. He then instructs Optimus to do the most apalling act for a Prime: the destruction of Megatron's Matrix.
As Optimus returns to the real world, he rounds up the troops; the have a world-saving mission on their hands.

Quotes
Notes
Continuity notes
- Like Croaton before him, the Dweller is able to possess a cityspeaker, suggesting that this may be an ability of the Titans.
Transformers references
- When faced by the possessed Bumblebee, Chromia swears by the Mistress of Flame.
- The Dweller first appeared in the The Transformers episode which this one takes it name from. Though the original Dweller was a Quintesson Trans-Organic rather than a Titan.
- We finally learn the truth about Maccadam and, as we totally called, he's Alchemist Prime, taking inspiration from the idea put forth in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide that the old barkeep was one of the Thirteen Primes.
Real-world references
- The Dweller, now a monstrous, unknowable, tentacle-wielding monstrosity, has some heavy Lovecraftian vibes. Specifically he calls to mind Lovecraft's most famous creation Cthulhu.
