Laser snare

One of Shockwave's inventions, the laser snare can slices and dice any starship it comes across. To function, the weapon fires a single beam of energy which then splits to envelop the hapless craft in a grid, the beam slicing through the hull and detonating the ship.

When the Ark, carrying the AllSpark, made its approach over Cybertron, Shockwave fired his laser snare at the craft, destroying it. The Battle For Cybertron I Though Megatron eagerly planned to mine the Ark's wreckage, the Autobots revealed themselves to be alive, having anticipated the attack and bailed out long before there was any danger. In Megatron X's timeline, the tyrant used a laser snare to destroy the Quintesson flagship before it could even touch down on Cybertron. The Other One
