In search of Windblade, Grimlock journeys with Bumblebee to prehistoric Cybertron.
Synopsis
In the underground realm of prehistoric Cybertron, Bee calls Hot Rod to show him the marvel of the now-flowing energon river. The latter isn't particularly fond of it due to bad memories, and quickly reminds Grimlock that he emerged from the waste to find Cybertron overrun by Quintessons. Finding Windblade's shard underground, Grimlock tranforms and stomps a tunnel down... only to send both Autobots into the river.
Awakening at the bottom of a waterfall, Bee finds himself alone with Grimlock nowhere in sight. He quickly finds his way into a metropolis of energon, and marveling a tower, falls prey to a monsterbot, who begins draining his energon. The creature is then shooed away by the city's residents, who quickly take Bee with them to an energon party, introducing themselves energon masters in the process. Lead to their leader, Affluous, energon donations quickly lead to the full requirements, allowing them to shower the town in a rewarding rain. After Bee makes an offending comment, he draws attention from a displeased Affluous, just before both witness a singer suffering from painful surges known as the shocks. As guards lead her away, Bee is booted out, but suffers the shocks as he tries to transform, leading the guards to bubble him and escort the scout into the dungeon.
In a different area, Grimlock awakes to find Bee nowhere in sight, running into a fleeing Repugnus in the meantime. Upon noticing a swarm of Injectors, the Dinobot joins him in running from the creatures. As the monsterbots hide in burrows, Grimlock attempts the same, but doesn't fit due to his larger size and gets stung in the rear as a result. Enraged, the dinobot swats one with his tail before using his fire breath to scare off the rest. Worshipped as a hjero by the other monsterbots, they give him their last cup of energon as thanks before revealing the circumstances for their shortage: the energon masters hoarded all the energon in the immediate area, and the discriminated monsterbots had to face starvation or capture. This revelation disgusts Grimlock, and he vows to help the monsterbots get their share of energon.
As Bee gets locked up, he notices multiple prisoners and the singer from the party, and notices a monsterbot who claims to be the cause for it all.
Outside, the monsterbots make a break for the energon pool while Grimlock handles the opposing guards. At the dungeon, Bee breaks the prisoners out with the multiverse energy, while a displeased Affluous confronts the invading beastformers. The 2 parties soon meet, and Bee explains that both the monsterbots and energon master had more similarities than they realized. Affluous angrily denies this, but Teknicus exposes that he built the machine causing the shocks. After the energon masters fail to support it, Bee charges his stinger with multiverse energy and fires a shot that destroys the shock tower, causing the energon masters and monsterbots to assume the appearances of each other. Angrily confronted by the other monsterbots, Affluous inadvertently transforms, and shocked by his true form ,he runs off in despair. Bee and Grimlock find Windblade's shard in the remains of the shock tower, and absorbing it, both jokingly note that they will have quite a story for the restored cityspeaker.
