The Autobots and Decepticons confront The Other One, a powerful being from another universe... and a Megatron more tyrannical than the primary universe's.

Synopsis

In Megatron's matrix, Windblade finds pillars with the names of the thirteen primes surrounding her. To her surprise, a manifestation of Optimus Prime emerges from one of the pillars, though with a different backstory than what she remembers. Finding Windblade unable to understand what he is saying, Optimus gives her a clear, direct order to destroy the matrix, leaving the cityspeaker shocked at the prospect of killing Optimus while doing so.

Surrounded by Perfect Decepticons, Optimus notes that Megatron had succeded in creating his ideal soldiers... Only for the warlords to reveal that the troopers surrounding them weren't his creations. References to The Other One reveal more riddles, including one about sparing Prime's life. Noted by Astrotrain that the troopers are waiting for their master, Dead End notes that they don't want to be around when he arrives. This statement gains Astrotrain's agreement, and the giant Decepticon promptly flees to the multiverse. Both Autobot and Decepticon then try to fight past their shared foes, but only succeed with the help of multiverse energy. Upon succeeding, Prime swears to destroy Megatron's matrix, causing the warlord to disagree until more Perfect Decepticons arrive, which are promptly blasted into unspace with Megatron's new dimensional ray.

Just after Megatron disposes of the enemy troopers, a titanic version of the warlord manifests behind him, proceeding to disarm and fatally wound his smaller self. This act leaves everyone shocked, and Alphastrike quickly fires at the giant warlord in vengeance. However, he manages to repel the shots, and observes several differences from his home universe. Introducing himself as a successful Megatron, retelling his tale:

When Optimus refused to join the Decepticons, Megatron quickly knew he would forever oppose him, and hit him square in the chest with his fusion cannon before stealing the Matrix, proceeding to rid his universe of all Autobots. Using Vector Sigma and the AllSpark to create his Perfect Decepticon troopers, he fired a laser snare at the invading Quintessons, stealing their multiversal secrets in the process. The surrounding Decepticons then pledge their loyalty to the multiversal Megatron, only to be rebuffed, revealing he eradicated all other Decepticons in his home universe after he created his perfect troopers.

Retaking his Matrix and killing the primary universe Megatron, the multiversal Megatron finds his matrix snagged by Bumblebee, who proceeds to bolt for the Autobot side of Cybertron. Several perfect troopers then attempt to intercept him, only for Ratchet, Whirl and Shadow Striker to take them down. Alas, the scout's luck come to an end as the shields prevent him from escaping, and he is quickly knocked out by the multiversal Megatron, who proceeds to retake his Matrix and prepare to execute Bee. Prime quickly comes to the rescue, and the 2 faction leaders end up in a matrix duel. Megatron soon overpowers Optimus, but Windblade cripples the MAtrix from the inside, allowing Prime to seal his fate. Bee proceeds to absorb Windblade's mind fragment, while Astrotrain arrives and takes the remains of his former master, imprisoning him in the multiverse as revenge.

Windblade soon reawakens, and finds all of Cybertron preparing to celebrate her return. She then recieves a hug from Bee as all cheer, with Cybertron's people united once more.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • The Tarn-esque soldiers are revealed to be Megatron's race of perfect Decepticons that he intended to have Vector Sigma and the AllSpark create back in "Megatron Is My Hero."
  • The alternate Megatron's timeline diverged during the third flashback of "Megatron Is My Hero." This also reveals that those events took place after Megatron killed the High Council and Optimus received the Matrix of Leadership in the eponymous episode.
  • Upon seeing Shadow Striker, the alternate Megatron comments that she looks like one of Shockwave's experiments, referencing her reconstruction by ol' one eye in "Shadowstriker"—evidently, her near-death experience at the hands of Bumblebee was not something that happened in this Megatron's timeline. Well, Optimus wasn't around to get captured, so...
  • The alternate Megatron defeated his reality's version of the Quintessons with a laser snare, the device that Shockwave used to destroy the Ark back in "The Battle For Cybertron II."
  • Perceptor still has no optics.
