Synopsis

As Megatron addresses his troops to hunt down the Autobots, Skywarp reports they have a visitor, who marches forwards towards the command chair. The cons prepare to fire, but although Megatron orders them to fire on his command, Starscream and Jetfire engage in another argument, both shutting up at the command of Megatron. As the visitor prepares to get shot, Barricade defies orders and fires a stray shot that misses, earning him Megatron's scorn. The visitor then reveals himself as Ultra Magnus, who willing surrenders to the Cons in good faith. After a series of discussions, Magnus fails to negotiate peace and is thrown into a cell. News of his surrender reaches Autobot headquarters, where it falls on negative responses. A series of arguments soon flood the numbers, though everything simmered down long enough for Optimus to appoint a reluctant Elita-1 to Magnus's old post.

On the con side of things, Shockwave brings to Megatron the idea of harnessing the AllSpark to reformat all Autobots into Decepticons, a plan that reaches the audio receptors of Ultra Magnus. As he begins warning the autobots, Megatron expresses reluctance to engage in such a task, but decides to consider it. Magnus's message soon reaches the Autobots, prompting Optimus to rally his troops. The reception is less than positive when the AllSpark and Ultra Magnus are brought up, but Optimus remains undeterred. Strategies are soon developed, though Soundwave reveals the transmission to a furious Megatron. His rage is soon quelled when he realizes that the Autobots will save him the extra effort of finding the artifact.

In one of the corridors, Optimus and Elita exchange a few words before the alarm sounds. As Cog alerts them of a transmission, it reveals itself as Ultra Magnus transmitting the AllSpark's coordinates. As Optimus orders all available teams to prep for the search, none of them realize it to be a false message fabricated by the Decepticons as bait. As soldiers are dispatched, Megatron visits Ultra Magnus's cell, revealing the benefits of his transmission before smugly leaving Magnus to stew in anger.

As the Autobots reach Iacon, they spread out, unaware of the Decepticons preparing to attack. As the teams spread out, Cog and Chromia detect what they think is the AllSpark, but as soon as they find a cube of concentrated energon, the other units realize they have been set up, and Impactor takes out Cog. All units soon engage in combat, and burying the main strike force under a building, the Autobots retreat, leaving Cog in the repair bay before continuing the search for the AllSpark. The Decepticons dig themselves out in the meantime, but could only salvage Impactor's arm. Unable to find the energon cube, Megatron is furious with the losses until Shockwave reveals that an unknown figure took the purified energon. As they prod Ultra Magnus for answers, Megatron makes it VERY clear that he doesn't intend on ending the war with honor... He intends on eliminating all Autobots in existence.
