Cody takes the Recruits on a camping trip. When he tells them a spooky campfire tale, Hot Shot gets spooked. When they return to the Academy Hot Shot hears strange sounds and comes to the conclusion that the 'Zombie Ghost Bear' has followed them back.

Synopsis

The recruits trudge with Cody through the woods on their way to a camp site. Cody explains that a nature trek is a part of the camping experience. They arrive at the camp site which has a magnificent view of a valley. Fast forward to that evening as they sit around a fire and Cody asks who's ready for a spooky story. Hot Shot is unenthusiastic, but Cody proceeds with his story about the Zombie Ghost Bear. During the story, Hot Shot gets so frightened, he transforms and runs into a nearby tree. They retire for the night as they have to hike back the next day.

Back at the academy the next day, the recruits thank Cody for the camping trip. Hot Shot hears a strange scraping noise, but the other recruits don't hear anything and laugh at the idea it might be the Zombie Ghost Bear. Later Hot Shot hears a creaking noise which he blames on Hoist until he realizes Hoist had been gone at the time. Later still, the recruits are having a Cube game when Hot Shot is startled by a howling noise. The other recruits are concerned by Hot Shot hearing things but they're all called to Boulder's science class. Afterwards, the other recruits worry about Hot Shot, but Wedge asserts Hot Shot isn't scared of anything. This is undercut as Hot Shot walks in and immediately dives for cover upon hearing a roar. The recruits are called to Hero Hall for a sim mission.

As the recruits try to clear out a collapsed tunnel before a train arrives, they realize Hot Shot is missing. They're able to stop the train in time, and find Hot Shot searching for the source of the roaring noise that is drowning out his audio. Medix examines him and finds his comm transmitter is missing, knocked loose when he ran into the tree during the trip. They return to the woods where Hot Shot finds the transmitter, and they all now hear the roaring sound. As it turns out, nearby a tree has almost toppled into a ravine with a bear cub atop it, and momma bear is trying to hold it up. The recruits spring into action and rescue the bear cub, returning it to its mother. Whirl is disappointed that the Zombie Ghost Bear isn't real, while Hot Shot asserts he's not scared of anything—which is undercut when he's startled by a squirrel and drives into a tree.
