Independent from both the Autobots and Decepticons, the Mercenaries are dangerous, skilled operatives whose only allegiance is to getting paid and to whichever side they find most beneficial at the time.

A group of mercenaries led by faulty clone Soundblaster frequently received Energon from Bumblebee. However, during one of these transactions, the bot, accompanied by Autobots Arcee and Cog Siege episode 5, made off with a few pieces of the much-desired material in an effort to bring the Ark online, despite the mercenaries' attempts to stop them. Their eventual releases were in outwardly Decepticon-themed packaging; but Doubledealer (and not Snapdragon) featured a Mercenary symbol on his package's inner cardboard backdrop. The Doubledealer toy features changeable Autobot/Decepticon symbols on the shoulders in robot mode.
