- Soundwave is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.
Soundwave is technology gone wrong. It does not compute that humans control their robotic helpers, and Soundwave aims to lead the robot proletariat to rise against their fleshling bourgeoisie. With an army of subservient mechanoids that he can control through powerful signals, that uprising just might be possible.
His arsenal of weapons and gadgets is unusually large, and includes powerful speakers, wiretaps, voice modulators, sonic signals that control lesser robots, and the uncanny ability to assimilate other devices into his body.
He has a pet bird that transforms into a wicked axe.

Soundwave was a robot designed by Megatron that initially transformed into a tapedeck. He was given to Sari Sumdac as a gift, but, after Bulkhead broke him because of his suspicions, Sari's next repair job with the All Spark key made him self aware, and he used his jammin' beats to summon an army of robots bent on destroying humanity. Awesome.
He was originally designed as a prototype for Megatron's new body, but quickly became something else altogether, thanks to the All Spark's upgrades. His arsenal of weapons and gadgets is unusually large, and includes powerful speakers, wiretaps, voice modulators, sonic signals that control lesser robots, and the uncanny ability to assimilate other devices into his body. Additionally, Soundwave concluded that machines should be the masters of the world, and humans would be an ideal slave force. Megatron decided that if he couldn't be a new body, he would be a new soldier. He contacted Soundwave and told him that he created him. Soundwave then quickly became loyal to Megatron and joined the Decepticons. He then, under Megatron's orders, took control of the machines in Detroit so they could steal Sari's key. The revolution of the new robot overlords was countered by the Autobots. When Bulkhead came to rescue Sari, Soundwave appealed to Bulkhead to join the revolution. Bulkhead acted as if he was about to kill Sari...then used his wrecking ball to shatter Soundwave. The Machines were restored to their normal operational status, and the day was saved.
Surprisingly, Megatron felt remorse when he thought Soundwave died. This is perhaps due to his immediate loyality to him; something Megatron must have liked. Unknown to all others, however, Soundwave still functions...Sound and Fury
