Fiction

2015 Robots in Disguise cartoon

Windstrike and his fellow Mini-Cons were captured by the Decepticons in their youth and experimented on. Given the ability to combine with their larger brethren, the Mini-Cons were stored in a laboratory in Darkmount until Starscream stumbled on them. They managed to escape Starscream and fell in with some scavengers so they could escape Cybertron, only to find their new hosts were heading for Earth. They set about trying to work out a way to abandon the scavengers and leave the planet. Mini-Con Madness

The Mini-Cons accompanied the scavengers to an automated ship to find a relic, though Windstrike stayed on deck with Paralon while the other scavengers headed for the seabed. After the scavengers managed to retrieve the Dark Star Saber, Windstrike and his companions stole their sub-orbital craft. Detecting a power source capable of getting them off-planet, they invaded the scrapyard looking for it, only to be told it had already been destroyed. Mighty Big Trouble Their craft eventually ran out of fuel, but they ran into the Autobots again, and after Aerobolt recognised Optimus Prime, the two groups teamed up. During an ensuing fight with the scavengers, Windstrike and his companions were snatched up by Starscream. Mini-Con Madness

Starscream attempted to merge with the Mini-Cons, only for it to fail because Tricerashot was missing. He was eventually able to obtain the last Mini-Con and merge with all seven Mini-Cons. However, Fixit was able to activate a signal and separate Aerobolt from him. Aerobolt then found Optimus and linked with him, providing the Autobot leader with a powerup that let him go up against the super-powered Starscream. The super-powered Starscream dueled with Optimus until he was able to be lured into range of Fixit's signal, which separated him from the Mini-Cons. Windstrike and his fellow Mini-Cons left Earth on the sub-orbital craft, now modified by Fixit for space travel. Worthy

Toys

Robots in Disguise (2015)

  • Sideswipe & Mini-Con Windstrike (Mini-Con Battle Pack, 2016)
    • Accessories: Armor
Included in a 2-pack with a Red Alert-themed recolor of Sideswipe from his previous Mini-Con Battle Pack release, Windstrike transforms from robot to 5mm sword accessory. He is packaged with a set of clear armor that either he or Sideswipe can wear in robot mode, or which can be attached to Windstrike's sword mode for a larger weapon.

  • Windstrike (Mini-Con Weaponizer, 2016)
    • Accessories: Armor sprue
Part of the second wave of single-packed Weaponizer Mini-Cons, Windstrike is a red redeco of his Battle Pack figure, and includes a sprue of new weapons and armor. The Robots in Disguise mobile game describes this version as "Stealth Windstrike", although this moniker is not found anywhere on the figure's packaging or instructions.

Loses to Cliffjumper every time they play rock-paper-scissors.
  • Power Surge Sideswipe & Windstrike (Power Heroes, 2016)
Available only with the Power Heroes version of Sideswipe, this new mold version of Windstrike is simpler than most Mini-Con figures, only having 3 moving parts and no articulation. He can be transformed into both a sword or chest armor for Sideswipe, the latter of which triggers different sound effects from his partner.
Unlike most toys in this line, Windstrike does not have a scan badge, just a sculpted insignia on his chest.

  • Mini-Con Mega Pack (2016)
This massive fifteen-pack of Mini-Cons, released exclusively in some Asian and European markets, includes Windstrike along with Anvil, Back, Bashbreaker, Beastbox, Divebomb, Hammer, Lord Doomitron, Ratbat, Sandsting, Sawback, Swelter, Tricerashot, Undertone, and Velocirazor, each with extremely minor added deco and none with armor sprues. Windstrike is very similar to the release included with Sideswipe, but the gear-shaped detail around his chest sticker is painted silver.
