Image moving

thanks for moving my image. how did you do that?--Kitsune1 (talk) 17:16, 19 June 2020 (EDT)

  • Yo, no problem! At the top of the editing page, you should see a "move" tab. Click on that and you can rename the file. Prime Radiant (talk) 17:19, 19 June 2020 (EDT)
    • much appreciated. --Kitsune1 (talk) 17:20, 19 June 2020 (EDT)

File shrinking

Thanks for shrinking those files. Sorry, first time editing a wiki and didn't realize the file size was such a big issue! Got any tips for bringing the file size down while maintaining the quality like you did? Netbug (talk) 03:47, 16 August 2020 (EDT)

  • Hi there—no problem, thanks for taking the time to understand the issue! Yeah, 150 kb is a good target file size so that the page can load faster. I don't know a ton about images, but JPEG is a compression protocol, so if you lower the compression rate, you can lower the file size——up to a point! If you keep lowering it, it starts looking "pixel-y". Another thing you can do is image resampling, which reduces the number of pixels in the image (if you just resized it, it will take up less space on-screen, but it will still be a large file size). Those are the two things I did. How you would actually do that depends on which platform you use, though! Prime Radiant (talk) 10:20, 16 August 2020 (EDT)
    • Got it, thanks again! Netbug (talk) 13:11, 16 August 2020 (EDT)
