The War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline uses a series of military insignia to denote each Autobot and Decepticon characters' position within their armies; while each faction has unique designs for their insignia, they follow a common system.

Each insignia consists of three parts: the division (ground, air, sea or space); the unit (infantry, artillery/weapons, special ops/black ops, transport, engineering/applied sciences, medical, recon/espionage,[1] or intelligence); and the rank (private/raider, sergeant/specialist,[2], captain, major, or general).[3]

Notes

  • The Mercenary, Quintesson, Maximal and Predacon factions do not use equivalent insignia; some Mercenary characters use Autobot or Decepticon rank insignia, while Maximal and Predacon packaging has "cave paintings" of the characters' beast modes where the rank insignia are on Autobot and Decepticon packaging.
  • The unit symbol used by Roller Force and Ground Hog (listed above under "Intelligence" for the Decepticons), and that used by Slamdance and Swindler (listed above as "Unknown"), have yet to be positively identified.
  • The division symbols for the Decepticon Sea Force and Autobot Sea Command have not been used for any toys. It's unknown whether they were designed for purely in-universe reasons, or if a War for Cybertron Trilogy Tidal Wave or Broadside was planned at any point.
  • An early version of the Decepticon insignia placed the division symbol within the center of the insignia and the unit around the outside top, similar to the Autobot insignia. A development image from Hasbro Pulse shows a Decepticon medical unit symbol under this framework, which is frustratingly incompatible with the final system.
