Actually, looking back over it and comparing to other images of the figure, it might be the red pigments or something in the purple paint on his face being screwed up by the camera. Anything with the slightest bit of red, never seems to pick up on camera properly, even the brighter purple/pink plastic on his body, which is supposed to be roughly the same colour, looks odd. I've also noticed Takara tends to use filters or something on their stock images too, which tends to make the colours look off when compared to the actually products.
