Fireblast is a term which recently (~2001) came to replace the term 'firepower' in many Transformers materials, usually those coming directly from Hasbro (packaging, tech specs and biographies.) The apparent reasoning for the change is to avoid the potentially-inappropriate-for-children connotation the word 'firepower' has with guns. Fireblast is a made-up nonsense term, and an example of blastification within Transformers.

Most transfans seem to think this change in terminology falls somewhere between 'silly' and 'hypocritical.' However most can agree that expunging references to weapons in a franchise about an intergalactic war is monumentally stupid.

The Autobot Hot Shot carries a 'fireblaster' weapon in Robots in Disguise. This refers to a specific type of weapon, and is not compatable with the 'catchall' use of the word Fireblast as described above.

His fireblaster shoots pink bursts of energy.
