Whirl has got so used to being part of a team that she doesn't like to make decisions without them, even though she is perfectly capable of doing so.
Synopsis
Trudging through a mine, Whirl finds an intersection for some mine cart tracks and reports her discovery to Hot Shot. She's not confident enough in knowing which lever to pull and unfortunately as a consequence, the mine cart crashes shortly after the rest of the recruits arrive. The simulation fails, only for a distress call to arrive on the same frequency as the sim generator, meaning it's been sent by a Cybertronian. Joined by Heatwave, they pinpoint the source of the signal as somewhere in Australia, and their teacher dispatches them to respond to the SOS.
The recruits arrive in the Australia outback, and Whirl spots a nearby farm. They arrive to find it's been abandoned, but also encounter the source of the distress call, fellow Autobot Brushfire. Mobs have been terrorizing a local town, and, assuming Brushfire means people, the recruits are ready to help disperse them while in disguise. The mobs in question turn out to be kangaroos, as demonstrated when a mob of them rampages past the recruits. The kangaroos are coming from three directions, so the team splits up to investigate.
Brushfire and Whirl follow the trail back and find a fire blazing. Whirl contacts Hot Shot for fire support, but the other two groups have found their own fires to fight. Whirl and Brushfire manage to extinguish their fire, but the others have less luck and have to retreat to the farm. The remaining fires combine into a firestorm, and the recruits are at a loss without a source of water. Brushfire luckily has knowledge of using divining rods to find underground water and has created a version with Cybertronian scanning tech. They locate water, and while Medix and Whirl search for buckets, Whirl finds and rescues a baby roo trapped by a ring of flames — finally realizing she doesn't have to look to others for help every time. With the water source located, the recruits put out the firestorm. The recruits invite Brushfire to the academy, but she's happy being on her own... for now.
