Ten years after the battle for the Mini-Cons, an era of peace between the Autobots and the Decepticons ensues. However, the emergence of the mysterious Alpha Q and his Terrorcon hordes, threatens the peace over the Autobot's "energon" resources. Under the leadership of Optimus Prime, the Autobots and Decepticons must work together against a common foe. Little do the Autobots know, Alpha Q plans to use the energon to restore the "Chaos Bringer," Unicron to carry out his unknown intentions.

• In the English version of the episode "Survival Instincts", Optimus states that Arcee is "the first female Omnicon to have evolved as a result of energon". What this means isn't entirely clear, but to take the quote at face value, it would imply that she is possibly "Transgender"—one of the first Transformers to ever use this concept. This is of course only exclusive to the English version of the episode.
