BuggyMan is a Renegade from the GoBots continuity family.
"My briefcase full of BEEEEEEEEES ought to put a stop to that!"

BuggyMan is a Renegade who transforms into a dune buggy. Cy-Kill considers him a competent officer, one with good judgement and an appropriate level of initiative. He likes talking in the third person and has a collection of insects, worms, and arachnids.

Fiction

Kre-O comic

"The situation has only been made worse by the addition of yet more bees!"

BuggyMan was sent flying to the air along with Chromedome by Brawl's assault on a pile of bricks. Or he might be jumping in to kung-fu kick Brawl, it isn't explicitly clear. New Military Unit Combaticon! Bruticus, Combine!

Timelines

The Buggyman is the one in the centre that's a buggy, man.

The Buggyman [sic] is one of the odder, and creepier, Renegades and one whom Small Foot had once flattened in a fight, but someone decided to put him in the team meant to save the whole universe from destruction anyway! With his new, stronger Transformers-emulating body and an array of icky insect drones, he was attached as navigator to the second cross-dimensional team. Sunrise What nobody knew was that he was allied to the renegade Renegade Zero: much of the Buggyman's creepy persona was a put-on, and he and Zero were plotting their own way to save the GoBot race. High Noon

When sent to a new world to meet the first team, his first act was to have to confirm he wasn't Bug Bite using a fake name.

While Admiral Man-O-War and Path Finder clashed over strategy, the Buggyman sent his drones to scout the area. Path Finder's plan of enlisting Autobot aid was given a boost when the Buggyman announced he'd located the 'bot base nearby. Sunrise He quietly gave Road Ranger a fuel leak so they'd need to stop at a place useful for his agenda and he alerted Zero about the plans. Once back on the road, he was the first one to realize the local Autobots were very different to how they should be: no spark signature at all. He stopped his team making contact with a local because of this.

Later, the team learned the Autobots they encountered were evil when they narrowly fought off Stepper! High Noon

I want to tell you about the Transformers!

Notes

"What's this? A handsome family picnic woefully underpopulated by bees?"
  • As with Bad Boy, Path Finder, and Treds, the designs of Buggyman and Man-O-War in Spatiotemporal Challengers are based on prototype versions of Generation 1 Mini Vehicles—in Buggyman's case, a red version of Beachcomber. (We're pretty sure red Beachcomber wouldn't have had Buggyman's rather toothy mouth, though.)
  • 1980s GoBots materials render "BuggyMan" with camel casing, and this is the spelling used in "Renegade Rhetoric". By contrast, the first two chapters of Spatiotemporal Challengers give the name as "The Buggyman" while the final two chapters render as "The Buggy Man".
  • Kre-O BuggyMan, like all the other non-toy Kreons, uses existing parts in his design, including wheels on his feet and Trailcutter's helmet.
