Hi. TFfan1 is from Ireland. I'm also Kale'O on Twitter, Arclight on the Discord server.

I grew up in the early 2000s, watching Armada on Toonami, catching reruns of Robots in Disguise on Fox Kids and watching The Movie with my uncle, learning to appreciate the ways different franchises all had their own unique things to offer. I love the brand for its ability to reinvent itself, explore new ideas, provide new takes on familiar characters, and well, transform itself.

Personal favorite things in the franchise include:

Personal canon

Background

  • The Quintessons, having stolen technology from across the galaxy, create Cybertron as a massive manufacturing plant to create war machines and mechanical slaves. They create Vector Sigma to imbue simulated intelligence into their creations, and the Matrix of Leadership as a secondary system, but the Quintessons unknowingly tapped into a wellspring of energy and brought into being an intelligence they couldn't control.
  • The Thirteen were created by Primus to liberate Cybertron, using experimental technology to grant their unique abilities and artifacts. They later faced Unicron, and after fending him off, most decided to leave Cybertron to pursue him or in some cases, their own agendas.
  • The Quintessons commissioned Primacron to create Unicron as a weapon to take back back Cybertron, but to both party's surprise Unicron proved too powerful and rebelled after his first failed attempt at destroying it, though maintaining an instinctive desire to destroy the planet.
  • Functionism was introduced by the Quintessons to indoctrinate Cybertronians into obedience, but corrupt leaders co-opted it to maintain control after most of the Thirteen left. They attempted to destroy all records of the Quintessons, resenting their origin as products.
  • During the Golden Age, there was expansion and a great space bridge network before the outbreak of Cosmic Rust forced its end.
  • Megatron, a lowly miner-turned-gladiator, discovers Cybertron's origin, and becomes obssessed with making Cybertron a powerful empire to move past and compensate for their origin.
  • Orion Pax was at first a dock worker alongside Dion and Ariel, but his administrative skills led to him being reassigned to archive duty.
  • Dion became Delta Magnus, who fell early in the war and who Ultra Magnus was based on.
  • Powermaster technology was developed before the war. Disposable class bots were refitted to act as living batteries, allowing their "betters" to forget about having to refill their tanks.

The War

  • Hot Shot is the Wreckers' resident turbo-revving punk (but more heavily-armed than most).
  • Galvatron is a mad clone of Megatron, created from a backup of Megatron's CNA by Shockwave several millenia after the crews of the Ark and Nemesis disappeared to act as a leader for the Decepticons so Shockwave could focus on his own machinations. Led across the galaxy by visions, he became a servant of Unicron, and for his service was given his own Decepticon Matrix, the Matrix of Hate, which contains a version of the Hate Plague that allows him to infect and (kind of) direct victims.
  • Cyclonus was given life by Unicron from the shattered remains of bots from a lost colony to serve Galvatron, and feels eternally indebted to the madman for his existence, though a sense of honor and reason left behind from his past life causes friction.
  • Scourge is a geezer, and was once a comrade of Kup during an ancient war. Serves Unicron and Galvatron out of a combination of fear and the promise of a renewed, reformatted body.
  • While the crews of the Ark and Nemesis slumber on Earth, Ultra Magnus leads an Autobot resistance against Galvatron. While Galvatron is officially Decepticon leader, he unknowingly operates under protocols sent by Shockwave, who operates behind the scenes.
  • Pretender technology was initially developed for hazardous environment operations in areas such as the Rad Zone or Rust Sea before the war, but branches in radically different directions under each faction as the war spread across the galaxy: while Metalhawk's unit integrates size changing into the suits for diplomatic and disguise use, Thunderwing's followers use them as heavily-armed engines of psychological warfare, capable of being piloted remotely by their wearer.
  • Using technomatter harvested from Straxus' smelting pools in Polyhex, Shockwave creates a new breed of mass-produced drones: Vehicons.
  • Fire Convoy and Pyro are the same bot.

Colony worlds

  • Onyx Prime founded Animatron, using his Cyber Planet Key to allow his followers to metabolize things into Energon. In the present, it is divided into two main regions: the Kingdom of Onyx (ruled by one of Onyx's successors who has taken his name), and the lawless wilds, where those unwilling to submit to Onyx's rule can try and join the Maximal tribe, led by Leo Maximus (who champion freedom) or try their luck with the Predacon Syndicate, a gang of marauders and criminals.
  • Velocitron was founded by mechanics and scientists, who discovered their Cyber Planet Key could harness and multiply kinetic energy to produce Energon, leading to a society powered by and revolving around races. Ruled by the fastest, Override.
  • Gigantion is the world of Titans and their Titan Master attendants, who forever toil to create a world large enough to accomodate them and the citizens they one day hope to have. Their Cyber Planet Key warps gravity and density, and is the source of all Titans' ability to achieve such massive size in violation of the Square-Cube Law.
  • Paradron was founded as a medical center, comprised of healers and pacifists, whose possession of the Skyboom Shield allows them to create an impenetrable shield around their planet.
  • Combatron was founded as a military outpost, and harbors the Requiem Blaster. Ruled by the Great Generals Strika and Obsidian.
  • Caminus was founded in memory of the smith Solus Prime, who honour her and safeguard her greatest creation.
  • Micron was founded as a safe haven for the Mini-Cons, a group of Micromasters who were tainted by Unicron's influence after he briefly captured Micronus Prime. Ruled by the Mini-Con Council of Sages. An amnesiac Micronus walks among them, though he has been divided, and left unaware of his true nature in the hopes of severing their connecton to Unicron.
  • Junkion was less founded than slowly assembled from stellar debris and served as a refuge for outcasts. Unknown to them, the lost artifact of Alchemist Prime has granted them the ability to rapidly integrate foreign materials into their body. Led by Wreck-Gar.
