When everyone bands together to waste Judge Starscream's time, Sky-Byte mentions that Optimus and Megatron were having a picnic on the beaches of the Argon Sea. The End Of The Universe II

Chromia and Bumblebee dove into the Argon Sea using an Autobot shuttle, following a shark that had stolen the comatose body of Windblade. The Sea is stratified into three high-visibility layers, separated by thinner layers of purple-blue gas. Dense areas of kelp-like spires rise up in the first layer, which serve as home to flying Arthropods. The depths are also home to various sapient forms of life, including Hammerbyte, the one who stole Windblade. The Autobots chase the wayward shark-bot into the second layer, dominated by skyscraper-like pillars. It is here that the ship set upon by a pack of energy-draining aquatic mechanimals, taking the shields offline. The beasts made their escape as Hammerbyte arrived once more, intent on attacking the occupants of the ship. Bumblebee successfully managed to subdue him with his stingers, falling into the depths in the process. On the ship, Chromia and Hammerbyte made their introductions, with the latter revealing the horror at the bottom of the Sea: an ancient and terrifying Titan, known only as the Dweller. The two now descend into the final layer, a night-like layer with a blue-green floor. It's here that they encounter Bumblebee, climbing deeper into the Dweller's hatch. As the crew exits the shuttle, a massive tentacle rears up at Hammerbyte and sprays him with orange mind-control gas. Chromia now has to contend with both Hammerbyte and Bumblebee, both of which have fallen under the control of the Dweller. She races through the Dweller's tunnels, decorated with totally-not-creepy black and blue hanging tentacles, until she finally finds the control room where Windblade is being kept. After a brief conversation with the Dweller, Chromia manages to use Bumblebee's stingers to subdue both him and Hammerbyte. The trio decide it is time for them to leave as more mind-control gas fills the room. With Windblade in tow, they fly the shuttle back up through the Sea and burst through the surface, narrowly avoiding the Dweller's tentacles. Although the shuttle is lost to its grasp, all of the occupants were able to successfully make it back to dry land. After a brief farewell, Hammerbyte returns to the Sea in stereotypical triangle-fin-sticking-out-of-water fashion. Dweller In The Depths

Notes

  • The purplish hue that bathes the Argon Sea is is reminiscent of the real-world element Argon, which glows violet when electrified. Furthermore, Argon is about 30% denser than Earth's atmosphere, meaning a large body of the substance would indeed pool at the lowest available altitude.
