You're lucky to catch a glimpse of a Gainstage as these Mini-Cons burn brightly before sparking out of existence. The abilities they grant their partners in battle are always short lived, but powerful.

Transformers: Heavy Metal

The Mini-Cons were all brought to Earth from another dimension by Micronus Prime and could be found by humans in the Guardian Program equipped with an Autobot Scanner modified with Decepticon technology. Once located and recruited by paying them Energon, Gainstages could be partnered with Autobots to give them new abilities. Transformers: Heavy Metal

Notes

• Abilities granted by Gainstage include:
  • Featherstrike — Deal extra damage when dealing damage in the next five turns.
  • Hackle — Gain extra armor when gaining armor in the next five turns.
  • Soar — Gain extra health each turn for the next four turns.
