Autobots and Maximals join forces to rescue Airazor as Dinobot chooses his destiny.

Synopsis

In an alternate future, Blackarachnia and Dinobot await their leader, the Predacon Megatron, as he steals the Golden Disk. Maximal Enforcers fire on him in hot pursuit, causing Megatron to drop the Disk. Blackarachnia catches it, and the two threaten to shatter the Disk. Megatron implores them not to, claiming it is the only chance the Predacons have to take back their world. In the end, Blackarachnia agrees and relents, giving the Disk back to Megatron, much to Dinobot's chagrin...

On Earth, Dinobot catches Starscream and Blackarachnia quietly scheming, but before he can intervene, Thundercracker reports that Soundwave has captured Airazor, a Maximal spy. He finds the Predacon leader torturing Airazor for fun, and calls out his leader for being dishonorable. Soon, Blackarachnia retrieves Megatron, and from her cell, she attempts to appeal to Dinobot's better nature. Torn between loyalty and honor, he grimly follows orders and resumes torture. But he only does it once, remaining full of conflict. Airazor attempts to reach him again, and a thin trust is established. Dinobot confesses that he wanted to change Cybertron for the better, but is unsure if he's doing the right thing. Airazor continues to extend kindness and suggest he's grown beyond loyalty to a single faction. Dinobot can hardly respond and departs.

At the Ark, Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal argue priorities: Prime wants to stop "his" Megatron from retrieving the Allspark at all costs, while Primal is keen to rescue Airazor. The Maximals are especially loathe to lose another comrade, having arrived to Earth with a full complement of 200 soldiers. Prime and Bumblebee agree to help the Maximals and order Arcee to assemble a strike team to retrieve Airazor alongside the Maximals. In exchange, Primal orders Rhinox to remain with the Autobots to aid them in their search for the Allspark and to repair the Ark. After they depart, Rhinox, Ratchet, and Wheeljack struggle to repair Teletraan I, and the savvy Maximal stuns Wheeljack with his rapid progress once he learns the Ark has passed through the Dead Universe; doing so is an option that he would not recommend. Meanwhile, Arcee and the Autobots learn that they are poorly-equipped to handle the uneven terrain on Earth, unlike the bestial Maximals.

Megatron and "Beast" Megatron discuss the contents of the Golden Disk (and the need for the Predacon to choose a different name). "Beast" Megatron warns his ancestor that too much knowledge of the future can be dangerous, but the Decepticon leader says he knows just enough to know not only where the Allspark is, but what he must do to retake it. Nearby, Starscream eavesdrops on their conversation, reporting it to Blackarachnia.

Near the Nemesis, Hound manages to hide their energy signatures, and Primal sends Rattrap in to get Airazor. He narrowly avoids detection by Astrotrain and Dinobot. As the rat-bot scurries away, Dinobot confronts Blackarachnia for scheming against the Megatrons, but Starscream ambushes him. But Dinobot pleads to be heard: he suggests that they three, a third column apart from their factions, could seize the Allspark and prevent Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, and Predacons from killing each other.

Megatron has another vision: he finally comes across the Allspark. After a brief struggle, he catches it, but then notices that he's actually holding the dead face of Ultra Magnus. As Megatron is consumed by a great void, he awakens, rips the Matrix off of his chest, and throws it across the room. He contacts Soundwave and "Beast" Megatron, telling them it's time to press his advantage with knowledge from the Golden Disk: he knows exactly when and where Rattrap will try to free Airazor and sends Astrotrain and Scorponok to intercept him. He also dispatches "Beast" Megatron to North Bridge to ambush Arcee and Primal's team, unfazed by Hound's energy signature suppression!

Rattrap is at the mercy of Astrotrain, but then Mirage de-cloaks and punches him across the room, while Rattrap himself tussles with Scorponok. Mirage changes his appearance to match Astrotrain's, and convinces Scorponok to stand down. "Astrotrain" orders Rattrap to open Airazor's cell, and the avian Maximal is freed as the ruse is discovered.

"Beast" Megatron's victory is short-lived, as Decepticons refuse to take orders from the beasts, giving the Autobots and Maximals an opportunity to escape. But just as they are overrun by the Predacons and Decepticons, Optimus Prime arrives, along with Rattrap and Mirage, and they drive back their enemies. Airazor rushes to embrace Tigatron as Primal declares the mission a success. Even as Prime worries about Megatron's activities, Primal reveals that Airazor let herself get caught; in fact, that was her mission! As a result, she placed tracers on every bot she wan in contact with, and Prime orders the Autobots and Maximals to roll out and converge on their location.

But in a shuttle craft elsewhere on Earth, Megatron approaches a mysterious structure, smiling as the Matrix glows on his chest...
