Megalligator was an Avatar of Megatron, and the Predacons believed they only had this kind of technology. During a fight with the Maximals, Convobat, Avatar of Optimus Primal, revealed himself and confirmed that the Maximals possessed Avatar technology as well. Megalligator's defeat by Convobat didn't make Megatron think highly of Avatars. Scorching Heat Showdown
