Signal Post

The surface of the Earth is covered in a web-like pattern created by geothermal energy interlaced with energon pulses, resulting in a cyber lattice. The regions within this lattice are each controlled by a Signal Post which collects and concentrates energy. Defeating Decepticons within the region also sends energy to the Signal Post, eventually allowing the Autobots to take control of it.

Transformers: Heavy Metal

Humans who were part of the Guardian Program could detect Signal Posts thanks to scanners supplied by Wheeljack, and could obtain items from Posts. Decepticons occasionally occupied Signal Posts, resulting in raids in which the humans would have to band together to defeat them. Special amplifiers could be installed into Signal Posts to attract Mini-Cons or draw energon to the Earth's surface. Transformers: Heavy Metal
