Fearing an inevitable "Energon Crisis", Jhiaxus's student Shockwave planted a "seed"—a dose of self-replicating energon—in Crystal City on Cybertron. However, he was unable to see his experiment come to fruition as a battle between Monstructor and Omega Supreme destroyed the city. Nevertheless, this "seed" would later inspire Shockwave's synthetic energon Regenesis program, especially after his empurata and Shadowplay.

Over the eons, the seed at Crystal City developed the property of resurrection, recreating the fabled Crystal City, Shockwaves which was discovered after the rebirth of Cybertron in the aftermath of the D-Void's attack. However, the Titan Metrotitan, who was trapped there, exploded and destroyed the city. All Good Things It was again rebuilt by the seed. In the midst of the Decepticon takeover of Cybertron, Shockwave took his leave to pursue his agenda and took Dreadwing to Crystal City. There, he shot through Dreadwing's chest to test out the qualities of the seed he had sown so long ago. Dreadwing was soon revived and Shockwave dubbed the seed "Ore-14", which was key to his future schemes. Shockwaves Soundwave soon arrived on the scene, and attacked Dreadwing and Shockwave, but as he soon learned, the Ore-14 present made the fight moot. Shockpoint Soundwaves

Shockwave was merely awaiting the arrival of a Titan animated by Waspinator, one which carried Ore-2 in it, knowing the ore would react with the Ore-14 that lined the Crystal City, turning the Titan in an undead monstrosity. Dark Dawn Though this came at the cost of destroying the Ore-14 in the caverns. The Dead Are Not Enough Sent ahead as a distraction, the Necrotitan unleashed a wave of energy on Iacon, created a death-plague that spread throughout the city though the trace of Ore-14 within the wave managed to resurrect Metalhawk. Winners & Losers

As part of his master plan, Shockwave merged Ore-2 and Ore-14 and exposed the resulting fusion to Ore-7, granting him the ability to control life and death. When all the assembled ores were merged through his chronal drive, Shockwave sought to use them to collapse all of time and space into raw fuel for Cybertron. The Becoming

To rid Cybertron of Shockwave's Ammonite army, Metalhawk used the Ore-14 within him to throw the combined ores out of balance causing the Ammonites to violently explode. ...And the Damage Done
