"For the glory of Merlin, Daylight is mine to command!"

Behold! There is no warrior more noble than Thunderhowl, Knight of the Primes. With his sword and shield, his majestic wolf mode, plus his courage and gallant chivalry, there is no quest he won't go on for his comrades or Liege Prime. Once you show trust, rejoice, for his alliance is clear; his sword is at your service.

Cyberverse cartoon

During the Age of Expansion, Thunderhowl served under a Prime who dispatched him to destroy Crystal City. Though Thunderhowl breached the city's defences, he wound up trapped by the crystals, held in a state of suspended animation.

Salvation for the knight came sometime after 2007, when he was freed by the Autobots Bumblebee and Chromia, saving them from their own crystalline duplicates. After introducing himself to the Autobots, Thunderhowl agreed to aid them on their quest to save Windblade. Once they had entered the throne room, the Crystalline King generated an squadron of crystal Windblades to hold off the trio but Bumblebee's multiverse energy managed to shatter the entity. His quest complete, Thunderhowl returned to Iacon with the Autobots whereupon he pledged his loyalty to Optimus Prime. Thunderhowl

After Optimus Prime had received instructions from the Thirteen to destroy an alternate version of the Matrix of Leadership that Megatron had brought into their reality, Thunderhowl joined the infiltration team into Croaton. As they tracked the alternate Matrix, Thunderhowl sneaked past Decepticon guards using his nimble beast mode and incapacitated two guards with his electric breath. As the Autobots clashed with Decepticons, Thunderhowl pounced on Shadow Striker. After the Autobots had made it to the control room, they and the Decepticons were suddenly surrounded by towering hostiles. Silent Strike

The hostiles were quickly identified as Perfect Decepticons created by an alternate version of Megatron who had won the Great War and the owner of the alternate Matrix. While Thunderhowl and Sky-Byte boldly led the charge into battle against the soldiers, they proved too powerful to be felled as one Perfect Decepticon managed to blast Thunderhowl off of him. Along with the other Autobots, Thunderhowl battled several Perfect Decepticons and received a power boost of multiverse energy from Optimus Prime. Thunderhowl caught up with Optimus and Bumblebee just as Astrotrain took Megatron X, defeated and immobilized by Optimus, away. Thunderhowl was later present when a restored Windblade made her return. The Other One

  • Thunderhowl (Deluxe Class, 2020)
    • TakaraTomy ID number: Action Master-08
    • Build-a-Figure part: Maccadam's Head
    • Accessories: Sword, Shield, Effect part
    • Action Attack: "Lightning Blast"
Cyberverse Thunderhowl transforms from knight-themed robot to mechanical wolf. He comes with his sword and shield, and an action attack effect part which can be slid over his sword or his wolf mode tongue.
Thunderhowl's design draws inspiration from his concept art, though slightly tweaked (most notably adding more gold), and his face features the battle mask design. Because of this, Thunderhowl is the least accurate of the Deluxe Cyberverse figures. He comes with the head piece of the build-a-bot Maccadam.
Thunderhowl's stock image features him badly mistransformed, as the torso is kept in its robot mode configuration instead of unfolding along his spine, and his pelvis segments in beast mode can be slid out and pushed higher up towards his rump to create a more naturally shaped wolf form.

  • Thunderhowl (Ultra Class, 2020)
    • Accessories: Sword, tail/scabbard, wolf head/chestplate/hilt, cape
Ultra Class Thunderhowl transforms from knight-themed robot to mechanical wolf. He comes with his sword and a removable cape. His wolf tail is also removable and can be pegged onto either of his hip plates to act as a scabbard for his sword which can be stored in the tail in both modes.
Like Clobber and Rack'n'Ruin before him, Thunderhowl is surprisingly articulated for a Cyberverse Ultra Class figure, featuring an Energon Armor gimmick like everyone else in his sub-line. Unlike his counterparts though, activation of said gimmick is rather restricted. Thunderhowl's cape has to be removed to allow for clearance to deploy the armor, then the wolf head chestplate must be removed to trigger the mechanism and allow the armor to sit flush on his chest.
Care should be taken when removing the cape; as the plastic is sturdy and pliable, but the pegs are very tiny and could snap off if too much pressure is applied. Though his plastic is greener than black, Thunderhowl's sculpting is more show-accurate than his Deluxe Class figure above.

  • Thunderhowl (Tiny Turbo Changer, 2020)
    • Series: 4
    • Bag code: F
Released in the fourth series of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Thunderhowl transforms from mechanical wolf to robot in a few simple steps.

Notes

  • Concept art of Thunderhowl shows his shield forms his wolf mode hide and, in robot mode, his chestplate/upper wolf head becomes the hilt of his giant sword.
  • Thunderhowl mentions he was serving a Prime, but funnily enough that Prime goes un-identified at first. Season 4 would reveal it to be Onyx Prime, which given his alternate mode makes a fair bit of sense.
