Erwin Grunspan (March 25, 1973 - December 2021) was a Belgian actor and voice director.

He graduated from INSAS in 1999, he has since played in theater where he performs texts by authors such as Molière, Edward Bond, Shakespeare, and Chekhov. He has also played in several short films and TV films.

He was very active in dubbing Japanese animation and has worked on well-known titles. He is one of the voices of Nick Fury (in Ultimate Spider-Man and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes), but also worked on series such as Star Wars Rebels, in which he voiced the Fifth Brother.

In December 2021, fellow actor Brieuc Lemaire announced the death of Erwin Grunspan, at the age of 48.[1]

Transformers: Rescue Bots

  • Optimus Prime

Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015)

Notes

  • Erwin Grunspan has dubbed Optimus Prime/Primal in more episodes than any other French-speaking actor.
  • Following his departure from the French dub of Transformers: Cyberverse after season 1, the role of Optimus Prime was taken over by Benoît Grimmiaux for subsequent seasons, breaking a 13-year streak of Optimus Prime/Primal being voiced by Grunspan in every animated series (but not in the movies or the videogames).
