Benoît Allemane (b. December 28, 1942) is a French actor specialized in voice acting, in addition to his theater roles and various appearances in films and series.

Being one of the most iconic voice actors in France, he is the regular voice of Morgan Freeman and one of the voices of James Earl Jones, and also the voice of almost every single incarnation of Santa Claus.

In animation, he is the French voice of Foghorn Leghorn, Zeus in Disney's Hercules, Alex Louis Armstrong in Fullmetal Alchemist and Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget (from 2002 onwards), among numerous other voice roles.

Being an excellent narrator as well, he is very present in voiceover, for documentaries, cartoons, film trailers and advertisements.

Voice roles

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Transformers: The Last Knight

  • Hound

Notes

  • Hound is voiced by John Goodman in English, and Goodman's regular French voice is usually Jacques Frantz, but Frantz was already voicing Optimus Prime in the live-action film continuity since the first film.
  • In the European French dub of The Last Knight, around half of Hound's lines are provided by Patrick Raynal, with a similar voice, for unknown reasons. The two actors relay each other all film long at random moments, sometimes even in two successive phrases.
