Scrap was a Transformer phrase which referred to damaged or demolished equipment. To refer to someone as scrap or scrapmetal was a powerful insult.

• Usually just used to draw a comparison to actual junk metal, the word would occasionally be used as a soundalike-synonym for "crap" in publications that could get away with it ("None of that scrap on my team!" declares Barricade in Micromasters #2). By Transformers: Prime, "scrap" had evolved into the catch-all Transformer swear word, replacing the former "slag" due to international concerns (that is to say, "slag" actually is a rude word in the United Kingdom). As such, it is open to use in all the various colourful ways that "slag" was, most often as an isolated exclamation of frustration.
• Somewhere along the way, someone realized that "scrap" is just "crap" with an "s" in front of it, so the 2015 Robots in Disguise cartoon started replacing it with another "safer" alternative that followed the same linguistic rules: "scrud".
