Skidplate

A skidplate is a protective shield, applied to equipment such as an all-terrain vehicle, that protects vulnerable parts like manifolds, gearboxes, and presumably boron compressors from damage.
It is also a figurative location which others may be requested to kiss, or accused of kissing. This is generally done with some element of anger or disdain, and without any genuine desire for such contact to occur.
Example usage:
- "Carblast keeps complimenting our leader. It's totally insincere, but he thinks it's going to get him a promotion. Carblast is such a skidplate-kisser."
- "Carblast can kiss my skidplate. He's not getting any promotion."
This usage rather inexplicably mirrors human references to systems more analogous to Transformer tailpipes or exhaust ports. Indeed, in human vernacular, these systems are frequently seen to figuratively require covering, rather than providing it.
Perhaps there is some link to human language after all, as their culture contains a well-known link between kissing and apologizing.
