Robo-Bat is a Maximal drone from the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Robo-Bat is a drone in service of the Maximal warrior Polar Claw. It is Polar Claw's second set of eyes, able to fly high and far to find the targets of interest to its master. Robo-Bat can relay information over a distance of 3000 miles. The only downside of its link to Polar Claw is that the enemy can utilize it to render Polar Claw unconscious.

Fiction

2006 IDW Beast Wars continuity

Polar Claw launched Robo-Bat when the Predacons, in a desperate gamble to distract the Maximal forces on prehistoric Earth, swarmed the Maximal base. It is unknown how well Robo-Bat fared in combat, or what ultimate fate befell it afterwards. Polar Claw seemed to hold his own without it though. The Ascending #1

Available only with Polar Claw, Robo-Bat transforms from Polar Claw's right beast mode foreleg into a bat via spring-loaded launching/auto-transform mechanism. It also has a peg on his underside so Polar Claw can use it as a (non-firing) hand-held pistol.

This mold was also used to make Nightshriek and True One.

In Japan, Robo-Bat was available both with a single pack release of Polar Claw and with one sold in a two-pack with Scorponok. Both toys are identical to their individual releases.

Robo-Bat was depicted on Polar Claw's card, who was one of the 24 beast warriors to receive a battle card representation for the Beast Wars card game.

Notes

• Hasbro's 1996 pre-Toy Fair catalog declared "spring-fired fist forms radical robo-bat!" as part of the product copy for the prototype version of Polar Claw. It creates parity with Scorponok's Cyberbee, so good enough!
• Robo-Bat was not named on Polar Claw's English-language toy packaging, instructions, or bio... or on his Japanese counterpart's toy packaging, instructions, or bio. However, it DID receive the name "Bat Scout" (with a space) in licensed Takara guidebooks and trading cards, which was where the 2008 trade paperback release of the Transformers: Beast Wars Sourcebook derived the name "Batscout" for it from.
