Following the restoration of Cybertron from the Great War, Gears was one of the many Autobots blacklisted by the new High Council for being a supporter of Optimus Prime. Enemy of My Enemy

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark (3DS)

Gears appears in the Rise of the Dark Spark game for Nintendo 3DS as a support unit. Equipping him allows all Cybertron Autobots to reduce the damage they take in head-to-head melee combat by 20%.

I find it unbelievable that they couldn't make me into a toy!

• Gears was slated to appear in the Prime toyline as a retool of Deluxe Class Ratchet; while the toy never made it to production, its unpainted prototype was pictured in Ratchet's instructions, and its head design went on to inspire the Prime incarnation of Swerve.
• In Robots in Disguise, Gears is instead depicted as a recolor of Swerve with a different head heavily inspired by his Generation 1 counterpart.
