Talk:Merchandise
I specifically created this section to determine once and for all what's Merchandise and what is toys. There already was previously a discussion about that here: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Optimus_Prime_%28G1%29_toys#Merchandise but there wasn't any clear definition that come out of it. I suggest we first discuss in discussion about what make the difference between toys and merchandises, and only when we come to a general consensus, we will put it in the main article.--GUIGUI 19:36, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Let's start with...
One of the actual classification I don't understand is, why Optimus Prime Music Label is considered as a toy, but Soundwave Music Label is considered as a merchandise.

Revoltech's case
It seem generally admitted on this wiki that revoltechs are considered as toys despite the fact they aren't edited by Takaratomy nor by Hasbro, and doesn't even transform. Discuss.
- There don't seem to be hard-and-fast rules, which has led this wiki to be self-contradictory. Titanium, MyClone, and Robot Heroes have each been referred to as both toys and merchandise in various articles, and it would be good to make all that consistent throughout.
It's harder to draw a firm line than I would have thought. How can we consistently separate ActionMasters, Unleasheds, HOCs, and Robot Heroes? They've all gotten the mainstream toy aisle treatment. --Thylacine 2000 20:53, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
