The Ultra Armor (ウルトラアーマー Urutora Āmā)[1] transforms the inner robot (sometimes known as "Magnus") into the mighty Ultra Magnus.

2005 IDW continuity

Ultra Magnus never possessed an "armor" of his own. However, his death forced Chief Justice Tyrest to create the "Magnus Armor", allowing other Autobots with load-bearing capabilities to disguise themselves as Ultra Magnus. As such, the legend of the "immortal" lawman was maintained unbeknownst to the general population. The Divided Self
