Between Two Worlds!

Synopsis

The Decepticons arrive on the moon in search of Mini-Cons, but Optimus Prime catches wind of this via Laserbeak. As the Earthbound Autobots no longer have access to space bridges, he contacts Jetfire on Cybertron for help. Jetfire teleports Smokescreen and Scavenger to the moon, where they're immediately attacked by Demolishor and Cyclonus.

Meanwhile, the Autobots and Mini-Cons on Earth send a probe to the moon to find the wrecked pieces of the Mini-Con ship before Megatron does. The probe successfully awakens Liftor and Rollbar, who power up Smokescreen and Scavenger and allow them to defeat the Decepticons. A hologram of Optimus then shows up, explaining to Megatron that his probe has already beamed the Mini-Cons on the moon to safety. The Decepticons retreat, claiming they will find the Mini-Cons wherever they hide.

Items of note

  • Starting with this issue, the story claims to take place one million years after the Mini-Cons fled from Cybertron, while previous stories said it's been four million years since then. This change matches up with the timeline of the Dreamwave Armada comic, but is never explained.
  • On the moon, Megatron parodies Neil Armstrong's famous "one small step" line by saying "One giant step..." and stomping on a flag. It's not the American flag, though, just some fictional one.

Blast from the Past!

Synopsis

It is the year 1959. At Area 54, the Extra-Terrestrial Response Division reveal the Land Military Mini-Con Team, which they found buried under Las Vegas. They equip the Mini-Cons with inhibitor clamps and test them in a threat-response situation, in which they are fearfully effective.

A few hours later, the Land Military Team escape from the compound, making their way to the town of Stillwater, Nevada. They find Amos Hume, to whom Wreckage manages to grunt his name and the message "LMT-Alpha-Alpha-Zero" before the ETRD ERTD catches up and captures him. Amos demands to know what's going on, but the ERTD agents merely push him out of the way as they collect their aliens and drive off.

In 2003, Amos hears about the Air Defence Team on TV, and realises that it's time to deliver that message.
