Matrix check

A Matrix check is, presumably, a check for a Matrix of Leadership performed on Primes who break the law in Axiom Nexus by being a Prime.

After a B.U.T.T.-related incident sent Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Sari Sumdac to Axiom Nexus, Prime and Sari were arrested for being a Prime and holding a mystic McGuffin, respectively, both of which (along with being a Megatron and soliciting) are strictly prohibited in Axiom Nexus. Prime and Sari were taken away for an exceedingly boring seventeen hours of "processing". When they eventually left, they encountered Shockwave, a Third Rank subcommander from the Menacing and Foreboding Sciences Division of the Axiom Nexus Military Intelligence Branch. He took the two away to perform some evil morally ambiguous experiments on them, including a routine Matrix check. It sounded somewhat uncomfortable from the awkward noises Optimus Prime made while it was being performed.

When Bumblebee, Flareup, and "Joe" came to save them, Joe revealed he was actually Megatron and used Sari's key to bring several machines to life as his new army. The Autobots tried to get the new army to not work for Megatron by convincing them that, now that they were alive, they'd need to go through what Prime and Sari had suffered, including the "processing" and the routine Matrix check.
