I would think that if TakTom intended this to be G1 Carnivac they'd have made literally any attempt whatsoever to match the G1 character's color scheme, instead of making him look like a Steeljaw from the AOE movie. --M Sipher (talk) 18:34, 11 February 2023 (EST)

Pretty sure this was discussed back at the time when all those other AOE little promo toys (Jolt, Buzz Saw) et al and that was the conclusion that everyone reached; that it's basically just a nameslap rather than something intentionally being the G1 guy. Yeah, the only "evidence" towards merging it with the others is that the other characters from that Lost Age batch of campaign items are based on existing characters, and Sling (AOE) is just as much a nameslap. I'm not convinced there's anything more to tie it to Steeljaw (AOE) than Carnivac (G1)—they're both gray wolves—but particularly looking at this new photo I think it'd be a leap to merge. That said, there definitely needs to be consistency in how we're labelling the continuity families on these guys; is it unknown, per Beet-Chop, or AOE, per Ivan? The argument in the latter case was that he's based on Age of Extinction Grimlock. Obviously this ties into what I've been talking about on the community portal. See also Talk:Astrotrain (DOTM), that one I think is definitely in the wrong place. —The Wadapan (talk) 11:40, 12 February 2023 (EST)
I mean, if you ask me, I think merging that stuff was always borderline questionable; they're part of the AOE toyline, the only real thing that had any grounds for merging was that Legends, the series that isn't really bound by anything, had Buzz Saw as Waspinator's son, otherwise it's just fictionless entities.
