User talk:Ikkad
(IDW) vs (G1)
[edit]"(IDW)" is only used in cases where the name already has somebody using "(G1)". There is no other G1 Rung. Saix (talk) 15:40, 8 January 2018 (EST)
- How come? Characters introduced in the Japanese-exclusive shows use the show titles as qualifiers, even when there is no one with that name under (G1). Ikkad (talk) 15:44, 8 January 2018 (EST)
POTP Battleslash and Roadtrap artwork
[edit]Could you upload a new version of POTP Battleslash and Roadtrap's artwork without the white box covering the logo? The white space just looks ugly, and we do |have images with the logo, and it looks fine. -west james/notirishman (talk) 09:52, 27 January 2018 (EST)
- I've uploaded the full artwork. The cuts on the corners are due to the nature of the cards that the art is from. It's less ugly than the big white blocks, I would say. Ikkad (talk) 13:12, 27 January 2018 (EST)
- Thanks. -west james/notirishman (talk) 15:46, 27 January 2018 (EST)
Studio Series
[edit]I moved all of the Studio Series images to new names by adding the movie number to each (if they get a repaint of the same character in a different movie), so if you upload any images, be sure to add the movie number. On another note, on each character page, ID numbers are in boldface. Thanks. -west james/notirishman (talk) 15:09, 19 February 2018 (EST)
- Wouldn't a same character redeco be cataloged under a new ID number? ie. DOTM Ratchet would be 16 as opposed to the 04 of the TF07 deco. I just don't think it's necessary to indicate the movie designation in the filenames.
- The note about boldface is acknowledged, thank you. Ikkad (talk) 20:29, 19 February 2018 (EST)
- Well, it's there now. Minus well keep it. -west james/notirishman (talk) 21:03, 19 February 2018 (EST)
Flip & Attack
[edit]Please stop adding listings for those toys. They are not sold under the Transformers brand and are not appropriate for inclusion here. Saix (talk) 13:00, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- Actually, they do fall under our purview given this on the box. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 13:02, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- I thought we weren't going to cover those toys since they aren't sold under the TF label, with the logo's inclusion on the side merely warranting a note on the Jumpstarters article. --Sabrblade (talk) 16:29, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- If you could point to that conversation, I'd love to see it. Otherwise, everyone else agrees that these are absolutely deserving of being put on the wiki. Escargon (talk) 16:49, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- I did see an old thread about the issue in Talk:Jumpstarter, but it didn't come to a solid conclusion. In any case, we did agree on getting these toys some coverage in the Wiki Discord server. --Ikkad (talk) 16:56, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- There is this old post by Walky who links to the same note that I linked to after being asked if these toys should be covered on here. --Sabrblade (talk) 22:41, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
- Would be great if wiki discussions would actually take place on the wiki! A reference tucked away on the side of packaging that basically boils down to "Hey kids, buy this toy if you like Transformers!" is a pretty big stretch for those toys' inclusion here, but whatever. Saix (talk) 09:26, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- Saix, you were given the opportunity to join the Discord a whole month ago; you chose not to. Escargon (talk) 10:10, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- Haven't most relatively-minor discussions like this been taking place in the forum thread on the Allspark for years anyway? Discussions here have always been painfully slow, oft-ignored, and prone to miscommunications, to the point where many editors (yourself included) usually prefer to ask for forgiveness than permission. Thanks to first the thread and now (more effectively) the Discord, people have been able to inquire about potential edits, bat ideas back and forth, and act with a degree of certainty that their hard work isn't going to get reverted immediately. It'd be ideal for all wiki talk to take place on-site, but time has proven that this doesn't work in practise. Heck, I'm pretty sure you've had more than your fair share of stuff reverted - joining would save you time and heartache in the long run.--The Wadapan (talk) 10:28, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- While I agree with including these, I also agree with Saix that having discussions that impact the wiki at an off-wiki location (Allspark, Discord, or anything else) seems a little odd. Especially if there is no easily accessible notice here that such discussion exists. --Khajidha (talk) 12:55, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- I mean, sure, it's odd, but a lot of people's preference is for instant messaging, which there isn't any support for on-site, and if we don't host that somewhere, it'll just take place in even more obscure places. We've been trying to raise awareness of the Discord but it's a slow process; if you have any suggestions for where else the link should be posted, I'd be glad to hear them! --The Wadapan (talk) 13:47, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- Something on the Main Page, maybe? Or a big link on the Community Portal talk page? I know you have a post on the CP about it, but it doesn't seem to have any fanfare attached to it. --Khajidha (talk) 15:17, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
- Those seem to be the consensus in the server itself too, so I've gone ahead and put a link on the community portal. More discussion will be needed before anything happens with the main page, but another time/place I reckon. --The Wadapan (talk) 16:29, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
