David Russell (born December 13, 1950 in Los Angeles) is a storyboard artist. His original choice of profession was to be a comic book artist, inspired by the work of Jack Kirby. After meeting Kirby who became a mentor to him, Russell continued his art education and began working as a storyboard artist on cartoons. After working on Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, he storyboarded on the likes of Challenge of the GoBots, The Mighty Orbots, Super Friends and The Transformers before succeeding in becoming the first African-American to join the Hollywood storyboarding union. Since then he has moved to storyboarding big budget live-action movies, including Batman, Terminator 2, The Chronicles of Narnia, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
