Cyclonus (SG)

- Cyclonus is a heroic Decepticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.

Cyclonus has loyalty issues, and that's just putting it mildly. Generally, the more involved he becomes with the organization, the less he seems to like being affiliated with it. He only joined up with the Decepticons in the first place because he liked the Autobots' ways of doing things even less, especially where his hated nemesis Ultra Magnus was involved. Considering his immense power, Cyclonus's hate is definitely undesirable. Cyclonus's chassis runs on an "exponential generator" which makes him as physically fearsome as either of the civil war's leaders.
However, his chronic disloyalty makes him vulnerable to creative manipulation, something that Alpha Trion used to his advantage by staging "accidents" and "calamities" in order to dupe the otherwise disaffected warrior into following the "savior of all Cybertron".
His Targetmaster partner Krunix, however, is less certain that Alpha Trion's goals will actually be beneficial to Cybertron, which sometimes hampers Cyclonus's effectiveness in battle.[1]

Cyclonus acted as a transport for Scrapper and Long Haul when they retrieved Cliffjumper from the Rad Zone. He later partook in the strategic meeting to determine how to assault Prime's Ark to prevent its launch, but didn't say much. Cliffjumper's tale of Primus seemed to bring a smile to his face, though. Shattered Glass
When Aquarius, Breakaway, Landquake, and Topspin arrived at the Decepticon base, explained their situation, and asked to speak with Heatwave, Megatron had Cyclonus go and fetch him. After he arrived back with Heatwave, Cyclonus then sent a message over his comm link to an unknown recipient saying that "It [was] time", and proceeded to fire his arm-plugged Targetmaster weapon at Megatron "for the glory of Alpha Trion!" Reunification: Part 4
Cyclonus was then led away—still shouting praise for Alpha Trion—by Decepticon guards before Heatwave could make good on his threat to "crush the life out of" the traitor in retaliation. Reunification: Part 5 Cyclonus ended up spending time in a Decepticon holding cell after that. The Coming Storm: Part 1
Several deca-cycles in incarceration gave Cyclonus the time to find his own moral center without the influence of others, and he came to regret his actions. With Krunix willing to provide a conscience and support to his partner, Cyclonus hoped to one day redeem his past actions. Cyclonus's profile card
Despite Galvatron's support, Cyclonus received a chilly reception when he returned to duty. He was given command of the new shuttle Annex, running supplies back and forth between Cybertron and Earth. Upon arrival at the Nemesis, he found Cliffjumper openly hostile to his presence and even Starscream admitted he only tolerated Cyclonus at Galvatron's orders. Cyclonus decided to remain voluntarily confined to his ship until the supplies were exchanged.
During the wait, he was joined by a maintenance team of Darkwing and Crasher to work out the kinks and pranks left in the Annex by the Constructor Squad. Crasher received a telepathic cry for help from the Decepticons' human ally Emulator, and so the three 'Cons pursued the message in the Annex. Cyclonus battled the forces of the Underbase and the lost god the Fallen, forging a bond of friendship with Darkwing and Crasher in the process. The two earned his respect and chose to remain part of the Annex's crew in the future. Coalescence
Eventually paroled, Cyclonus appeared working alongside his former victim Galvatron. Solar Requiem
When Decepticon City on Earth came under Autobot attack, Cyclonus alerted Galvatron to the threat. Falling into Place He traveled to Earth aboard the Annex with the other Decepticons, and witnessed Galvatron take off to confront Optimus Prime. Memory's Splinter
After Prime's defeat, Cyclonus and Galvatron flew their ship back to Cybertron, as Galvatron's connection to the Thirteen anticipated some new threat. He was right. Cybertron itself arose to become the Dark God called Primus, driving the Annex off with his devastating breath. Miraculously, the positive-Earth came to life as well, transformed by Rarified Energon into a Light God called Gaea, who defeated Primus and then transformed herself into a new technological world to serve as a replacement Cybertron. Notes

- Cyclonus's coloration appears to be based on another prominent character first introduced in the 1986 movie: Rodimus Prime. His orange wings even mimic Rodimus's own V-spoiler in robot mode.
- When Cyclonus made his first minor appearance in the original "Shattered Glass" comic, he was drawn to the specifications of the original Cyclonus's character model. By Reunification, he was redesigned to better resemble the Universe Cyclonus toy–just less than a year before the above toy was released.
- Unlike other characters featured in Magic: The Gathering, Cyclonus is based directly on his Timelines figure (above) rather than being a recolor of his most recent toy. (In this case, War for Cybertron: Kingdom Voyager Class Cyclonus
