Sei Young Animation Co. Ltd. (世映 Se Yeong) was one of the South Korean studios utilized in the production of the original Transformers cartoon. The company was also kept on for sibling Sunbow show G.I. Joe and on Defenders of The Earth. Outside of Sunbow, they were also one of the studios behind Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and provided animation for The Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Pro Stars, Widget The World Watcher, and Captain N: The Game Master.

Akin to Sam Young Studio, Dai Won Animation Co. and Japanese studios Trans Arts Co., Studio Look, Ashi Productions, Nakamura Production and Studio No. 1; the company was mainly utilized to help out studios like Toei and AKOM in areas such as effects, photography and finalization. They are known to have headed up production of at least one episode of the series, "Surprise Party."[1] Additionally, they are known to have worked on the storyboards for "Heavy Metal War" and 'City of Steel".

The company also provided in-between animation and key Animation on several episodes of Beast Wars II

They were absorbed into Dong Woo Animation in October 1998.

Notes

  • Outside of The Transformers, Sei Young worked on several of Toei's late '70s/early '80s anime like Galaxy Express 999; usually with Dai Won as a partner.
