Nelson Shin (신능균 申奈舜; born 1939 in Pyongsan, Hwanghae, Korea) is a Korean animator and animation director. He was the producer of the original Transformers cartoon and the director of The Transformers: The Movie, and is the founder and owner of the South Korean animation studio AKOM. It might not be a coincidence that animation duties of the cartoon were shifted more and more from Toei to AKOM as the series progressed.

He also designed and animated the lightsaber visual effects in the original Star Wars film.

More recently, he recorded a DVD commentary for the 2006 release of The Transformers: The Movie by Sony, alongside Susan Blu and Flint Dille. Among other things, Shin pointed out that the production staff listed in the end credits include Yung Shin, his wife.
