Hot Rod and Daniel are captured while salvaging plane parts.

Synopsis

[edit]

Listening to Kup's stories of the good old days inspires Hot Rod to seek out adventure and prove his courage. With Daniel's help he scavenges electronic equipment from a wrecked plane. Scourge and his Sweeps attack and capture Daniel. Luckily Wheelie observes the attack and races back to Autobot City for help. Ultra Magnus leads a rescue party consisting of Springer, Blurr and three of the Dinobots who send the Decepticons fleeing.

Notes

[edit]
"Hey man, don't bogart it. Puff puff pass."
  • This is one of many secondary stories that came out around the time of The Transformers: The Movie and incorporated many of its characters, but in ways that are incongruous with the events of the movie itself.
  • The Matrix of Leadership is depicted as a featureless rod, being passed from Optimus Prime to Ultra Magnus like a baton.
  • Autobot City appears in a form similar to the one designed by Floro Dery. No mention is made of Metroplex.
  • Apparently Kup's stories are so long that Hot Rod has to re-energize after listening to them.
  • Although the cover art depicts Scourge (or a random Sweep) in a flying assault on Hot Rod and Daniel, the art depicts the Sweeps as ground hugging vehicles.
  • Scourge uses his head mounted weapon (called a "disintegrator ray" in the toy) to fire an "acid blast". It is said to disintegrate its target though.
  • When the plane crash is first mentioned, numerous humans are depicted surrounding it but they have all disappeared when Hot Rod arrives. They appear to be reporters or investigators and not crash victims, thankfully.
