Chaarantula
- The Chaarantula is an alien from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Chaarantula is a large, arachnoid creature native to the planet Chaar. Covered with a gray-white carapace, it detects its prey with its two yellow eyes, pursues them on its eight legs which terminate in two claws each, and captures them with the aid of two extendable tentacles near its mouth.
It is capable of spinning webs which have a stone-like appearance to their strands. These monsters are known to prey on Transformers that intrude upon their territory.

When Galvatron was leading Optimus Prime and the Autobots to his stolen cache of metals, they approached a large web that presented no apparent threat. As they crossed, Galvatron took off, sarcastically noting that he'd been mistaken about the lack of danger, and Goldbug was attacked by the large Chaarantula, which attempted to devour him. Fortunately, Prime and Blaster destroyed the webbing beneath the spider, causing it to plummet into the depths of the chasm below. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2
Notes
- The Chaarantula was not given a name in its initial appearance, and wouldn’t receive one until the release of the Decepticon Directive sourcebook in 2023.
