Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", "as such", or "just so". It is used to denote an incorrect or apparently incorrect spelling, statement or idea in a quotation or reference. Its purpose is to clarify that the error or apparent error is present in the original source and has been repeated intentionally.
