Robotnik is, perhaps unsurprisingly, someone who likes to build robots.

Sonic the Hedgehog wondered if the film Bumblebee was an idea of Robotnik's due to its focus on giant fighting robots.[1] The San Francisco Observer later wrote an article about a clash between Sonic and one of Robotnik's giant robots in Colorado, with many of the city's residents still upset about the damages caused there by a previous battle between the two.[2]

- Doctor Ivo Robotnik, more commonly known these days by his nom de guerre Doctor Eggman, is the antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog game series.
- The Observer article is inaccurate, as the battle in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film took place in Montana, not Colorado.
- Robotnik has previously been voiced by a few Transformers cast members, including Masaharu Satō, Kōtarō Nakamura, Mitsuaki Kanuka and Kōichi Yamadera in Japanese, and Jim Cummings, Garry Chalk and Brian Drummond in English.
- The customized 2014 Freightliner Argosy used as Galvatron's alternate mode in Age of Extinction would later be reused as Robotnik's mobile base in the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film.
