Daniel Warren Johnson is an American comic book writer and artist based in Chicago, Illinois. After breaking onto the scene with his self-published webcomic Space Mullet, Johnson gained wider notoriety with his 2017 series Extremity, which also marked the beginning of his collaboration with frequent colorist Mike Spicer and Skybound Entertainment, both of whom he would continue working with for his subsequent series Murder Falcon and the Eisner Award-winning Do A Powerbomb. He has also worked on such titles as Beta Ray Bill for Marvel Comics and Wonder Woman: Dead Earth and Jurassic League (with Juan Gedeon) for DC Comics.

In 2023, Johnson and Spicer returned to Skybound to helm the new Transformers series as part of their Energon Universe.

Notes

  • In Murder Falcon, the main character's band is called Brooticus, which is awesome.
  • Johnson's love for wrestling heavily influenced the comic's fight sequences.
  • Johnson keeps a number of Transformers figures, both official and 'third-party', on or near his desk to use as drawing references.
