Notes

Continuity notes

• The snake that Nemesis Enforcer kills on the first page is shown to have the same glowing purple eyes as the alligators that attack Cobra Commander, showing that the effect of Energon on the local wildlife is widespread.

G.I. Joe references

• Cobra Commander’s mask is rigged with electricity to prevent it from being removed, something that harkens back to the Marvel Comics series, where the Commander’s mask was lined with explosives to prevent anyone tampering with it.
• Zandar references his and Zarana’s brother Zartan, leader of the Dreadnoks. Zarana states he’s currently undercover, which fits the master of disguise.
• Buzzer’s backstory as a Cambridge academic who became a biker while researching them is ripped directly from Buzzer’s original file card. This issue also sees his speech peppered with more British colloquialisms.
• Cobra Commander’s enforcer is here revealed to be Nemesis Enforcer, another classic Cobra-La character that originates from G.I. Joe: The Movie.

Transformers references

• Zarana possesses an Energon cube, marking the first time that the substance has been seen in this form in the Energon Universe.

Errors

• Croc Master appears nowhere in this comic despite the Floridian setting and presence of giant alligators.
