The Transformers (Sunday Times)
In 1989, the British Sunday Times newspaper commissioned a set of Transformers comic strips for their Funday Times supplement, written by Simon Furman and drawn by Robin Smith. However, despite five strips being made, the project was cancelled before anything got off the ground, and the strips never saw the light of day... until 2022.
While gathering material for The Transformers Classics UK Volume 5, James Roberts interviewed Smith and found he'd kept his copies of his work for the Marvel UK Transformers comic, with Smith offering him the chance to rummage through them and see if there was anything IDW Publishing might wish to use. While doing so, Roberts stumbled upon the whole collection of strips. They would eventually be released by IDW as part of their Best of the Rarities collection.
