Cannonball is a Transformer from the Shattered Glass continuity family.

Cannonball was the captain of Rising Sea. Though agreeing with the Decepticon cause, even working with them on occasion, he clashed with their methods. He commanded an exceptionally loyal crew, Flamewar in particular.

Fiction

During the Great War, Cannonball aligned his crew with the Decepticons but did not officially join the faction. When the Autobot citycrashers targeted the Titan Net though, Cannonball joined the fight. Despite ordering Flamewar to stay behind, she engaged Rodimus in battle, Cannonball giving his life to draw the Autobot's attention and allowing her to escape. Though command nominally fell to Slipstream, the crew came to be commanded by Flamewar, despite the great guilt she harboured.

Years after the war ended, when Metroplex marched towards Kaon, Flamewar came across Rodimus again, leading her crew in battle against him to try and avenge Cannonball only to be knocked unconscious by the Wrecker. Shattered Glass II #4

Timelines Cannonball was repurposed as Shattered Glass Cannonball in Shattered Glass issue 4.

Timelines "Pirate Cannonball" is a retool of Prime Ratchet in black and gold with a new head, transforming into a SUV. He has a "dramatic head reveal" gimmick, with his robot mode head being spring-loaded to pop up once his "backpack" is pulled down and features 5mm peg-holes for his hands, a pair on his front bumpers/shins, and a pair on his vehicle roof. He comes with a pair of blades that can mount/be held via 5 mm post, and his hands can be swung down at the wrist to give the appearance of the blades sprouting out of his wrists. The blades can mount into the peg-holes on his front bumper, creating a battle mode, or store on tabs underneath the vehicle mode. Cannonball comes in a box set with fellow pirates Ferak, Tornado, Scorponok, and Olin Zarak, plus knights Ginrai and Devcon.

The initial concept for Pirate Cannonball utilized the Prime Wheeljack mold instead. A large number of the toys suffered from assembly errors, which led to the obvious potential of a redeco as Red Alert never being seriously considered.

This mold was also used to make 2014 Transformers Protectobot First Aid.
