Mattel is an American toy company and a perennial business rival of Hasbro. Like Hasbro, the company possesses its own prominent in-house brands, which include He-Man, Hot Wheels, and Barbie, and merchandising licenses for other properties like Jurassic Park and Power Rangers have bounced back and forth between the two companies over the years.

Despite their long-standing rivalry, Hasbro and Mattel entered into a multi-year partnership in 2023, where they agreed to produce co-branded toys and games based on their respective franchises. The first such Transformers-themed crossover would be a pair of Hot Wheels-themed Optimus Prime toys released as part of their "Mattel Creations" line in mid-2024.
