José Avilés is a Spanish comic book artist born in Málaga. Educated as a commercial artist, he quickly realized an interest in comics, and scored his first work on IDW Publishing's CSI: Miami title. As well as Transformers, other titles he has worked on include Flashpoint: Wonder Woman and the Furies and Batman for DC Comics, Dungeons & Dragons, Voltron, Cthulhu, and Star Trek.
